The Gare De Lest

The Gare De l'Est is one of the three big SNCF terminals in Paris. It's in the second arrondissement, just off the Boulevard de Paris, between the Gare de Lyon and the Gare du Nord. A direct train to the city of Paris (Paris-Orleans) can be reached by travelling south-west on the Eurostar or taking the high-speed Thalys trains from the Netherlands.

If you are looking to get around Paris quickly or easily, the Les Halles metro station is a good place to start. Here you will find a number of shops selling cheap and chic Parisian clothes and accessories, as well as a multitude of tourist information stalls.

Paris's nightlife is renowned throughout the world and with good reason. In fact, it's now being referred to as the "Paris of the South" due to the number of discos and bars found in and around the Gare de Lyon area.

The best thing about nightlife in Les Halles is that you don't have to travel very far to see it. Just minutes away from the Gare de Lyon, you will find the Gare Saint-Michel, also known as the Bazar des Filles, which offers many shops and stalls selling local foods and local crafts. Nearby, in the same district, you will also find Le Monde, which is one of many bars and clubs that cater to the 'foreigners' in the city.

The shopping in Les Halles can be very competitive, but is still one of the best in the world. There are a variety of stores selling high-end designer items, and many of them are located close to the metro stations and other popular places in the area. The best way to find the high-street retailers is to use the 'visit' system, whereby you can book a guided tour of the area so you can see the store where you want to buy your goods at any time of the day or night. This way, you can avoid the crowds, which tend to be quite intense at shopping hours during the week.

The real draw to Les Halles, and the whole of the city, are the sights and sounds that you'll find in and around this part of town. From the Place des Vosges, or Old Town Square, to the Place des Champs Elysees, with its ancient cobbled streets and historic buildings, to the Place De Valleege, filled with cafes, bistros, bars and restaurants, you will enjoy all that Paris has to offer.
