A Popular Place For Tourists in Nyons

Nyons is a small commune on the Drôme plateau in southeast France. A typical French countryside commune, it has no roads to take you there. Its villages have not yet developed, and most of its houses were built by Gypsies more than two thousand years ago. The only major tourist attraction in Nyons is its church of St. Jean de Luz, whose bell tolls to summon the spirits of the dead. Many tourists visit the village to get a glimpse of this intriguing historic site.

Nyons has a rich history, and most visitors are very interested in learning more about it. Many of its residents are from the former Gypsy community, which lived there for many years. Most of them still speak their language in private, but some even attempt to speak French. Even though most of the residents speak English or Spanish, English is the primary language spoken in the public schools, and the children are forced to learn French to participate in the local school.

Nyons was first settled by Gypsies in 1530 and has remained a Gypsy settlement ever since. Today, many of the houses are similar to those of their past neighbors. Some of the houses have their original roofs, while others still retain the traditional Gypsy cottages. However, many of the houses have modern conveniences, such as running water, telephone lines, and electricity. Despite this, most of the houses have the same basic structures: the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, a sitting area, and a bedroom.

Many of the Gypsies, who settled in Nyons stayed after the collapse of the Gypsy caravan trade. Those that left are mostly from the Gypsy community living in the town of Chateu des Marais, and other parts of the Drôme valley. They came from all over Europe, including countries like Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, but settled in Nyons for several reasons.

In addition to being a small town, Nyons also has a reputation for being a beautiful one. The main square in town is the Place du Voyage, where there is a large public square for many events, including parades, festivals, and picnics. During this time, the most famous tourist attraction in Nyons, the bell-tolling Church of St. Jean de Luz, is open every day for visitors.

There are many other tourist attractions in Nyons that many people do not know about. One of these is the La Sainte-Vieux, a small but steep cliff located on the western side of the village, which is accessible by cable car from nearby Toulouse. Another popular destination is the small and historic farmhouse Chateu des Chaux, where you can see early Gypsies living. Other smaller towns around Nyons, such as La Moselle, are also popular with tourists and provide a wealth of historical and cultural information.
