Things to Do in Aix Les Bains

Aix les Bains is an idyllic little tourist resort in the south of France, at the end of Lake Bourget. It is a charming town, with its idyllic beaches and picturesque surroundings. Swimming, sailing, hiking and even golf are all popular activities here. A number of historic sites include the Roman ruins, the Temple of Artemis, the Belle Epoque Chateau of La Roche au Roi and the abbey of St Laurence de Valois.

On the opposite side of the lake is the Abbaye D'Hautecombe. Nearby there is the village of Mont Revard, which was the headquarters of Louis XIV's court. The abbey is one of the best known medieval places in France. Also nearby is the L'Aiguillon, which is believed to have been the first public building in Europe.

The abbey of Saint Laurence is another good place to visit. Here you will find beautiful gardens and a museum of arms and armor. In the adjacent village of Saint Sauvignon, the village church is well preserved and a must see.

For those of you who like the beach front, you can spend your days on the sandy beaches of the Aix Les Bains. If you like the water sports then you may want to try snorkeling or windsurfing. There are also a number of places where you can swim, dive and go surfing. In addition, there are many restaurants for dining and shopping. For those who like to fish, then look no further than the many lakeside restaurants.

Another attraction in Aix Les Bains is the huge lake. The lake is an artificial lake, which was created by damming up the Lake of Orleans and creating a large reservoir. The artificial lake has two main lakeside areas.

Aix les Bains also offers a small harbour with several beaches and isle inlets. Beach life lovers will love this area because it is the perfect place to relax and sunbathe under the sun and enjoy the calm waters.

One of the most popular attractions in Aix Les Bains is the historical centre. You will find the Roman amphitheatre, the first church of France and a number of palaces and temples to tour and see.

As with many other areas in France, there are some old buildings in Aix Les Bains that are not in use. There are also some of the same old houses and streets to explore as well. These historic sites are great places to take pictures. and look at old monuments, ancient fountains, and Roman ruins.

Because the lakefront is one of the best places in Aix Les Bains to enjoy the water, boaters can enjoy a relaxing day boating or swimming. Or if you have a fishing rod you will have some great fishing for a relaxing afternoon.
