Souilly Abbeys in France

Claye Souilly is an abbey located in the Seine River district in the northern part of France. The abbey is named after the saint Claye, a prominent saint and Apostle in the Catholic Church. It was founded in 839 by King Charles V.

There are three parts of the abbey and Claye Souilly is one of them. It has two towers that have four windows on the sides of the abbey as well as a large central hall.

Cloe Souilly was built using stones quarried from the area around Tours, and it has three main cellars. The oldest is the Hall of St. Claye, which is only one storey high. The tower on top has a tall gabled roof. The cellars are located underground in two basements.
