"Renoir" - Le Film Noir

"The Renoir's" "Le Fenouillet" is a short film written by Pierre Morel, starring Audrey Hepburn and John Gielgud. "Renoir" was produced by the director on his own, without any help. The film was not very successful in the US. "Fenouillet" was later made in France as "L'Auto" by Paul Bert and Guy Delaval. It was then released in America by Columbia Pictures.

"L'Auto" has won many awards, including the Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize (for Best Picture) and a Grand Jury Prize (for Special Achievement) at the New York Film Festival. "Renoir" was chosen by the International Film Festival of Rotterdam for a special award. The film is available in many DVD formats; the French version is the best known. "Renoir" was filmed on location in several places, like the Espace de la Goutte Bleu, in the Chateau de Bordeaux. At other locations, you can find the cars rented from a variety of rental firms, in different models. from a small and compact van, to a luxurious limousine.

The film begins with a shot from inside a minivan. Inside, the driver is driving his daughter to school and he takes a detour to the Chateau de Bordeaux. On the way he runs into a motorist who is trying to avoid the traffic on a busy road. After this encounter, the driver and his daughter drive to the home of a businessman who owns a large fleet of cars. He drives one of his limousines to the Paris metro and meets his chauffeur.

"L'Auto" was shot on location in Montre. Several shots were filmed in the streets of Montre; they show the streets and a few of the local streets. Some of the scenes were also filmed at the Montre cathedral. Some of the shots were filmed in the Montre cathedral; some were shot in the Montre cathedral itself and some of the exterior shots were taken near it. The city also appears in the film in the scene when the chauffeur goes to a restaurant to pick up his daughter.

In Montre, the chauffeur and his daughter go to the Montre metro station, where the chauffeur notices that the metro has several stops near the Espace de Montre. The chauffeur goes with his daughter to the Espace de la Goutte Bleu, where they stop at the Metro des Pays de Montre. On their way back from the metro station, the chauffeur takes a turn on a narrow bridge where the vehicle gets a bump. His daughter climbs out of the car, and she starts walking down the street.

Another car chase sequence takes place on the road below Montre. A truck driver is also driving erratically as he follows the limousine. He sees the limousine and stops and starts again several times to look for the limousine. Eventually he takes out his binoculars and starts following the limo to a side street.
