Saint Flor, France

St. Flour is a tiny commune in the Auvergne department in central France, just north of Clermont-Ferrandon, around 101 kilometers southwest of Paris. Its population is known as Sanflors.

The name Saint Flor came from Saint Flour de Provence, which was the original name of the village. It has since changed its name to honor the late Saint Florian de Saint Flor. His funeral and mass services were held on his own church.

The church where he was buried can still be seen today. It was built during the 13th century. During his life, Saint Flor was a Franciscan friar and later was a Dominican priest. He lived for over six decades in this community.

When the Franciscans converted to Sanflor, the church was also converted to Sanflor. This gave a distinct feel to the community. People began to dress more traditionally with long dresses and white lab coats. In fact, the dress code was so strict that it was actually illegal to drive out on the streets without a proper hat. The friars even had to perform their mass at their chapel.

Today, many of the homes are still owned by the Sanflor. They live here because they are part of a religious order. There are also many children in the community. However, most of the adults have left for more modern places.

There are some beautiful historical sites in the area, including a Sanflor cemetery. Saint Flor is one of the oldest settlements in France.

There is also a Saint Flor museum which showcases all sorts of artifacts, including pictures of Saint Flor. It also has an arch and a statue of the saint. This church was also used by the Catholic Church, as it is a Roman Catholic cemetery.
