Things to Do in Saint Malo

Saint Malo is a very charming port town in southern Brittany, in northern France's north coast. Tall and beautifully carved stone walls surround the small old town, which has been a fortress for pirates (pirates supported by the King). The St. Malo Cathedral, on the south side of the main square, is very beautiful and built in Gothic style and includes stained-glass windows showing medieval city history. Further down the street, La Demeure du Corsaire, an old privateer's house and museum, is just outside. On your way to Saint Malo, you may also want to stop visiting Le Bateu des Morts aux Bouffyres, a local amusement park, or La Halle aux Pins, one of the many quaint little shops in the quaint little town.

Once inside the medieval walls of Saint Malo, you may be drawn to the cobbled streets. Here you'll see the old cobbled streets with houses built of brick and wood, with cobblestone sidewalks and cobblestone paths. You may also be tempted to take a stroll down to the old sea front, a short distance away, where your boat will dock. You can find many lovely stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as stalls selling clothing and souvenirs. The cobbled streets are also a great place to get a view of the town, and from the balcony, you can admire the gorgeous view of this small seaside town.

At the end of your tour of Saint Malo, you may want to stop shopping in a boutique. Many quaint little shops sell handcrafted items, including jewelry, pottery, furniture and clothing. You can also find some interesting antiques in some of these shops. If you have time, you may even want to try one of the many restaurants in town. One of them is Le Bateu des Morts aux Bouffyres, a small restaurant specializing in local and European food.

When you come back to your hotel in Saint Malo, you may want to try the city's famous drink. Remy Martin, a traditional Champagne that is sweet and fruity. You may want to sample the local Champagne as well, though, including the traditional Champagne and Rhone sparkling wine.

In Saint Malo you may also want to make a stop at the Chateau de la Lune de Saint Malo, which is a charming farmhouse with a garden and swimming pool. If you have time, the Chateau de Duchy is an older, much larger structure. Here you may want to visit the Chateau de Fleurus. This estate is also a pleasant attraction and is very popular with travelers who like to have a view of the sea.

There are many things to do in Saint Malo, so when you return home you may want to take your time with it. Try to visit the places mentioned above and do some shopping, but don't let your itinerary become overly complicated. You may want to add a nice vacation to your list, to include some hiking through the countryside, walking through the town or a cruise of the beach or the countryside in your car. If you can't decide, make a point of visiting the Chateau or a couple of the nearby places to spend your vacation in Saint Malo.
